Academic and Cultural Empowerment for Bilingual Latin@ Youth Course

The course is designed to build college students' leadership, mentoring, and tutoring skills while learning about issues that are faced by Latin@ youth nationally and locally. Students will have opportunities to implement what they learn at the schools that Campaña Quetzal works with. This is a partnership with Pipeline at the University of Washington that offers service learning credits to students as part of our Estudiantes Promotores de la Educación Program. Course begins Tuesday, January 10 at 5pm. If interested, please email jessi@campanaquetzal.org.

 
Hip Hop & Activism Workshop by Rebel Diaz

Nov. 14th, 2:30-4:30 @ Rainier Beach High School Library, 8815 Seward Park Avenue South, Seattle

We have partnered with Youth Speaks to host this 60-90 minute multimedia workshop that focuses on the historical and current connections between community activism and Hip-Hop culture. Rebel Diaz has facilitated workshops with youth in the Bronx, the Bay, with immigrant youth in Berlin, young Guatemalan civil war survivors, and many places in between. Their interactive multimedia presentations focus on the intersections of Hip-Hop culture, Immigration, Neo-liberalism, and Self-Determination.
