Proyecto Saber began in 1975 as the result of the Chicano/Latino community’s outrage at an almost 70% dropout rate. Initially serving Chief Sealth High, Denny and Boren at the Jr High level and Concord, Roxhill and Sanislo Elementary Schools; Proyecto Saber at one served 150 students and had 9 staff. The dramatic increase in our students numbers at the secondary level and increasing pressures such as drugs, gangs, and increasing performance standards caused Proyecto to consolidate at Denny, Chief Sealth and Ballard Highs, and Viewlands elementary as well as at Concord.
